We’re looking for a Technical Specialist who will maximize sales for the hydraulic product lines through direct selling, education, and providing support of identified customers within targeted markets. Identifies opportunities to gain new customers while expanding existing business to achieve planned sales volume.
This role will work from a home office and will travel to customers primarily located in the Eastern portion of the United States (and Canada). Responsibilities:
- Serves as the subject matter expert for the assigned product line(s), traveling to customers to educate them relating to the use, maintenance, or repair of assigned technical products.
- Responsible for profitable revenue growth of the assigned product line(s) through customer retention, further sales penetration of existing customers, and targeted new-customer growth. Sustains high sales achievement.
- Executes the “Sales Process” to determine and meet customer’s requirements. Analyzes customer needs, providing technical guidance and recommending products to maintain and service accounts throughout the US and Canada. Ensures high customer satisfaction, positive long-term relationships and repeat business.
- Communicates directly with customers, making presentations to develop their understanding of the technical aspects of the assigned product line(s). Uses persuasive sales techniques while discussing the assigned product line(s) with customer, providing technical information, and explaining technical concepts in an understandable manner.
- Demonstrates the quality and reliability of the assigned product line(s), providing training and basic technical assistance regarding their best application. Refers more complex problems to Lawson's technical engineering support to ascertain customers' needs. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the MRO industry.
- Answers customers' questions, making appropriate referrals where required.
- Writes reports and proposals for vendors or clients related to assigned technical product line(s).
- Resolves customer complaints through troubleshooting errors, diagnosing problems, developing solutions, and making recommendations. Explains and initiates repairs process. Assists with basic fixes but refers more complex problems to technical engineers.
- Utilizes Lawson system resources for tracking sales, customer requests, troubleshooting problems, assessing parts or spares inventory, documenting resolutions, or determining warranty eligibility.
- Suggests changes to products and product offerings based upon customer feedback.
- Maintains technical knowledge regarding the assigned product line(s) and researches current market trends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, with at least 2 years of experience in the field or a related area. Requires a broad knowledge of MRO industry policies and products. Familiar with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the MRO industry.
- Ability to sell at all levels in a customer/target organization.
- Proven knowledge and experience in selling the assigned technical product line(s), building repeat business, and developing new business.
- Excellent relationship-building skills. Ability to establish relationships at all levels with customers and prospect organizations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- High-level presentation and communication skills. Ability to provide demonstrations to customers and prospects.
- Proven sales closing skills.
- Ability to self-start and work independently. Willingness to work from a home-office environment.
- Proficiency with personal computers and having computer skills to meet administrative needs: Power Point and other Microsoft Office products.
- Stable work history.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to obtain and maintain vehicular insurance as required by policy.
