SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager of FP&A, this internship will allow an individual to gain experience across multiple facets of the Finance organization. The intern will learn the fundamentals of FP&A while owning two key projects. One project will focus on improving customer rebate tracking, providing exposure to contract terms, hands-on experience using Excel and BI Data Marts. The second project will involve learning how to use a Financial Reporting tool to drive efficiencies—an essential skill for an FP&A professional. In addition, the intern will gain exposure to Accounting and Credit and assist with small to mid-sized initiatives within those functions.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for creating a working customer accrual template that tracks customer sales and rebates earned utilizing Microsoft Excel and Power BI that generates an accrual amount for accounting to book monthly. 
  • Assists the various areas of finance (Accounting, A/P, A/R, Credit and FP&A) with small to mid-size projects and monthly tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, credit checks, collection calls, fixed asset and inventory reporting, vendor payment term review, variance analysis, report preparation and enhancement, cash application, forecasting and other finance related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Familiarity with financial and accounting principles
  • Understanding of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong math skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Previous experience in finance or accounting a plus
  • Must be organized, with the ability to multitask, prioritize and focus on high priority items in a fast-paced environment 
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, macros), basic knowledge of Business Intelligence and data visualization platforms, familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and MS Teams on the Windows Platform, experience with ERP systems and EPM software is preferred but not required.
